Colfax-Mingo CSD is a rural school district with a tight-knit community of roughly 800 students. Full of small-town charm and only 25 minutes from Des Moines off I-80, our district offers opportunities for students that families today have long been searching for.
Our Mission
As a district, our mission is to ensure a community that fosters life-long learners, independent thinkers, and productive citizens of character. We carry out this mission everyday through our vision for learning: to ensure curriculum, instruction, and assessment are student-centered and focused on continuous improvement. Meaningful learning is achieved through collaboration, technology integration, and high expectations for all.
Our Schools
Our district is divided into three buildings: Elementary School (K-6), Junior & Senior High School (7-12), and our District Office (Admin Staff). We are also proud to now offer full day preschool at our Elementary as an expanded offering for our Colfax-Mingo CSD families. No matter what building you’re in, you’ll experience unwavering Tigerhawk Pride.
Student Life
Student Life at Colfax-Mingo CSD is all about opportunity and building beneficial relationships between our staff and students. Whether it’s in athletics, fine arts, a club or anything in between, every student feels valued and has equal opportunity. As a team, we hold the value of forming bonds with our students close to our hearts.
Student Scholarships
Colfax-Mingo Scholarships is dedicated to providing graduating CM seniors the opportunity to raise funds toward furthering their education. In 2022, Colfax-Mingo Scholarships gave out more than $34,000 to graduating seniors, and had 16 seniors attend the annual phone-athon, each receiving $600 for participating.
Our Community
The towns of Colfax and Mingo are located just 25 minutes east of Des Moines off of I-80, and our school district is a strong community of approximately 750 students from the towns of Colfax, Mingo, Valeria and Ira. We’re full of small-town charm, and most importantly, unwavering Tigerhawk spirit.
Our Future
We’re committed to creating the best possible experience for our students and staff for years to come. Building one of the top football fields in the state was only just the beginning. We’ve recently completed phase 2 of our facilities renovation project, which included: a brand new gymnasium, wrestling room, weight room and indoor track.
